UEFA EURO 2016は、15回目のUEFA欧州選手権であり、ヨーロッパ各国の代表チームによって争われるサッカーの大会である。2016年にフランスで開催され、この大会から本大会の出場枠がこれまでの16か国から24か国に拡大される。優勝チームには、2017年にロシアで開催されるFIFAコンフェデレーションズカップの出場権が与えられる。
開催地選定 [編集]
開催地は、2010年5月28日にスイスのジュネーヴで開かれたヨーロッパサッカー連盟 (UEFA) 理事会で、イタリア、トルコ、フランスの3候補からUEFA理事の投票によって決定された。投票では、第1次投票でイタリアが落選し、トルコとフランスによる第2次投票でフランスがトルコを1票差で上回り（有効投票13票）、開催権を獲得した。[1] [2] なおUEFA欧州選手権において、同じ国が3回開催国を務めるのは、フランスが初めてである。
