多くの国で、女性は軍隊の女性部門に参加したり、産業や農作業に参加したりすることが奨励されていた。

第二次世界大戦における女性達 (だいにじせかいたいせんにおけるじょせいたち、英語:Women in World War II) と題して、1939年9月1日から1945年8月15日または9月2日まで約6年にわたって続いた第二次世界大戦における女性達の活躍を本項で示す。

概要

第二次世界大戦中、参戦国の女性は戦闘員や国内戦線での労働者など、さまざまな役割を果たした。「600万人以上の女性が戦時中に工場で働き、300万人が赤十字社に志願し、20万人以上が兵役に就いた。」この戦争には前例のない規模の世界規模の紛争が含まれていた。特定の役割は国によって異なりましたが、全人口を動員するという絶対的な緊急性により、女性の役割の拡大は避けられなかった。第二次世界大戦の結果、さまざまな年齢の数百万人の女性が負傷または死亡した。「戦争が終わったとき、大多数の女性は仕事と新たに得た経済的、社会的自立を維持したいと考えていましたが、戦時物資の注文が減り、何百万人もの男性が仕事を求めて兵役から帰国したため、ほぼ全員が解雇された。 」戦争は国に甚大な被害をもたらしたため、男性たちが帰国しても多くの女性は働かなければならないまま残された。
