香港大学（ほんこんだいがく、英語: The University of Hong Kong、公用語表記: 香港大學）は、香港島・薄扶林に本部を置く香港の公立大学である。1911年に設置された。 英語で授業を行う香港最古の大学であり、アジアの最良の大学のひとつとされる。
世界の主要な大学のランキングを調査する「タイムズ大学教育特集」誌の「2007年度Quacquarelli Symonds（QS）世界大学ランキング」の最新情報によると、上位50位中18位。
香港島西部にメインキャンパスを有し、新界にも研究所がある。2003年度の在校生14,675人、教員数1,114人であった。2005年現在の学長は徐立之教授。名誉総長は行政長官が務め、行政長官が欠けたときは行政長官代行が名誉総長代行を兼ねる。大学の略称は港大、HKU。

[編集] 沿革
1877年に創立された香港医科大学（香港西医書院）を前身とし、1910年当時の香港総督サー・フレデリック・ルガードによって総合大学として再編された。 3月16日を創立記念日とする。1911年大学として認可され、1912年に最初の入学式を行なった。 当時は医学部、工学部、文学部の3学部だけだったが、現在は教育、法律、経営、人文、社会科学など10学部に発展している。第二次世界大戦中、日本軍の占領下では閉鎖されていた。

HKU Libraries (HKUL) は1912年設立、香港最古の学術図書館で230万以上の蔵書数がある。オンライン蔵書検索 : DRAGONで書籍、ジャーナル、その他の蔵書が調べられる。
