ブリット・アワード1996（1996 Brit Awards）は、1996年 2月19日にロンドンのアールズ・コート・エキシビション・センターで開かれた、英国レコード産業協会が主催する音楽の祭典式。1995年の音楽を対象とし、今回で16回目となる。

パフォーマンス[編集]

マイケル・ジャクソンのパフォーマンス中にパルプのフロントマンであるジャーヴィス・コッカーが乱入する事件が起こった^[1]。コッカーはマイケルの周りを走るなどパフォーマンスの邪魔をし、終了後には警察から「子どものダンサーを襲った」疑いを持たれ事情聴取を受けている^[2]。

受賞・候補作[編集]

最優秀ブリティッシュ・ビデオ賞を受賞したオアシスのノエル・ギャラガーは、プレゼンターであるマイケル・ハッチェンス（INXS）に対し「終わった奴がこれからの奴に賞を渡すべきではないな」と発言し、物議を醸した^[2]。また、最優秀ブリティッシュ・アルバム賞の受賞スピーチでは同バンドのリアム・ギャラガーが、当時対立していたバンド・ブラーの楽曲「Parklife」を馬鹿にしながら歌っていた^[3]。
