『アメリカン・ダッド』（American Dad!）は、Underdog Productions and Fuzzy Door Productions制作、20世紀フォックステレビジョンがシンジゲーションを行っている、アメリカ合衆国の風刺アニメシリーズである。このアニメはCIAのエージェントであるスタン・スミスとその家族の生活を描いたアニメである。制作は『ファミリー・ガイ』の制作者セス・マクファーレンと、かつて『ファミリー・ガイ』の制作に参加したことのある脚本家Mike BarkerとMatt Weitzman。

パイロット版は2005年2月6日、第39回スーパーボウル中継終了30分後に放送された。本放送は『ファミリー・ガイ』のシーズンプレミア放送後に当たる2005年月1日。

スミス家[編集]

スタン・スミス
声 - セス・マクファーレン
本作の主人公。スミス家の大黒柱。
体格は良く、巨大な割れ顎が特徴。常に星条旗バッジの付いたブルーのスーツを着用する。
実はハゲで常にかつらを着用してる。
異常なほどの外国人嫌悪で保守派。仕事はCIAの「副副長官」を務める。
基本的には家族に優しい良き父親なのだが、前述のアメリカ至上主義や保守的思考のおかげで色々なトラブルを巻き起こしてしまう。
ペンシルバニア州、フィラデルフィア出身。
フランシーヌ・スミス
声 - ウェンディ・シャール
スタンの妻。専業主婦。普段は夫・家族思いの賢母だが、結婚前は荒れていた時期があり、時々常軌を逸した行動を取る。
ヘイリー・スミス
声 - レイチェル・マクファーレン
スタンの娘。大学生だが平和活動家。銃が大好きなスタンとよく反発するが、基本的にはパパ思いである。
スティーブ・スミス
声 - スコット・グライムス
スタンの息子。高校生。女子にモテたいと常々考えているが、実際は活けてない学生。
ハイレー・スミス
ロジャー
声 - セス・マクファーレン
スミス一家と同居しているエイリアン。様々な服を持ち、外出する際は変装する。その種類は、DJからおばあさんまで多岐に渡る。スタンと並ぶトラブルメーカー。
クラウス
声 - ディー・ブラッドリー・ベイカー
スミス一家に飼われている小さな金魚。元オリンピックスキージャンパーの脳が移植されており、不自由なく話す事ができる。

When Volumes 1-3 was released in the UK, Season 1 was renamed to Volume 1 much like its US counterpart.
Volume Two May 15, 2007 May 28, 2007 May 21, 2007 19 12/15/M This 3 disc boxset includes the remaining 10 episodes from Season 1 and the first 9 episodes from Season 2 (Stannie Get Your Gun - The Best Christmas Story Never). Special features include commentaries on all episodes, featurettes, multi-angle scene studies, and deleted scenes. An uncensored audio track is also available on the episode "Tears of a Clooney."

Volume Four April, 2009 May, 2009 May, 2009 18 12/15/M (To Be Confirmed) This upcoming 3 disc boxset will include the remaining 8 episodes of Season 3 (including The Most Adequate Christmas Ever) and the first 10 episodes of Season 4, which will air later this year. Bonus features will include commentary on every episode, storyboards/animatics, multi-angle scene studios, deleted scenes and optional censored audio. It has been rumoured that this DVD will return to the usual 12 certificate by the BBFC.
  • On the packaging for the Season 1 release on Region 2 DVD, there was no mention of audio commentaries or some of the bonus features whatsoever, leading many fans to believe they had been excerpted from the release.
  • The name of the Region 2 and 4 DVDs of Volume 2 was not renamed to Season 2 and instead kept the title 'Volume 2'.
