『あの子もトランスジェンダーになった SNSで伝染する性転換ブームの悲劇』（あのこもトランスジェンダーになった SNSででんせんするせいてんかんブームのひげき、英: Irreversible Damage、以下「あの子もトランスジェンダーになった」）は、2020年にアビゲイル・シュライアーによって書かれ、レグナリー・パブリッシング社（英語版）から出版された本である。この本は、急速発症性性別違和（ROGD）という論争のある概念を支持している[1][2][3] 。ROGDは、いかなる主要な専門機関によっても医学的診断として認められておらず、信頼できる科学的証拠に基づいていない[1]。

シュライアーは、出生時に女性として割り当てられた10代の若者たちを指しながら、2010年代に「思春期の女の子たちの中で突然、急激なトランスジェンダーの自己認識の急増があった」と述べる[4][1]。彼女は、これを「過去の数十年に渡り、拒食症や過食症、多重人格障害の犠牲になったことが多い、不安が強く、うつ病の傾向がある（主に白人の）女の子たち」の間の社会的伝染として挙げている[4]。また、シュライアーは若者の性別不調和に対する治療法としての、性を肯定する精神的サポート、ホルモン置換療法、性転換手術（一般に「性を肯定するケア」として参照される）を批判している[5]。　

この本に対する反応は賛否両論である。肯定的なレビューの多くはシュライアーの主張を支持しているが、批判の多くは本の逸話の使用やその他の証拠に関する問題に焦点を当てている。この本をトランスフォビアと見做し、トランスマスキュリンやノンバイナリーと自己規定する10代の若者を「彼女」と呼ぶことはミス・ジェンダリングであるとして、いくつかのボイコットが行われた。

日本においても、当初は「あの子もトランスジェンダーになった SNSで伝染する性転換ブームの悲劇」という題名で2024年（令和6年）1月にKADOKAWAから刊行される予定だったが、書名ならびに事前公開された内容紹介について各所で論争や批判が発生し[6]、2023年（令和5年）12月5日にKADOKAWAが「学芸ノンフィクション編集部よりお詫びとお知らせ」を公表して刊行中止を表明する事態となった[7][8][9]。その一方で、「原作を読んで批判した者はどれだけいるのか。出版社に抗議して刊行を中止させるのは卑怯だ」という指摘もあった[10]。

背景と公開の歴史

シュライアーはコロンビア大学とオックスフォード大学に通い、イェール法科大学院で法務博士（J.D.）を取得した[11][12]。

『あの子もトランスジェンダーになった』が支持する急速発症性性別違和（ROGD）という論争のある概念は、2018年のリサ・リットマンによる論文で初めて提案された[1][2][3]。ROGDは、いかなる主要な専門機関によっても医学的診断として認められておらず、信頼できる科学的証拠に基づいていない[1]。

『あの子もトランスジェンダーになった』は2020年6月に保守的な出版社であるレグネリー・パブリッシングから最初に出版された[13]。パメラ・アルマンドがナレーションを務めるオーディオブックは、ブラックストーン・オーディオからリリースされた。イギリスでは、スウィフト・プレスから「10代の少女とトランスジェンダーの流行」という副題で出版された[14]。2020年7月の「ジョー・ローガン・エクスペリエンス」でのインタビューで、シュライアーは性転換の願望を「伝染」と呼び、摂食障害や自傷行為と比較した[15]。彼女はトランスジェンダーの若者を自閉症と関連付けた[16]。彼女の発言は、Spotifyの従業員によるローガンのポッドキャストエピソードのプラットフォームからの削除を求める呼びかけを引き起こした[16][17]が、会社はこの要求を拒否した[18]。

『あの子もトランスジェンダーになった』のためにシュライアーにインタビューされたトランスジェンダーのYouTuber・チェイス・ロスは、2021年に本への参加を謝罪し、本の内容と著者の意図について誤解させられたと主張した[1]。

原著の評価

この本の評価については賛否が分かれている。スペクテーター・オーストラリア誌、エコノミスト紙（英）[19]、アイリッシュ・インデペンデント紙[20]、ナショナル・レビュー誌（米）[21]、サンデー・タイムズ紙（英）[22]、コメンタリー誌（米）[23]、タイムズ紙（英）[24]は好意的な書評を掲載した。エコノミスト紙は、2020年の優良図書の1つとしてこの本をあげた[25]。タイムズ紙も2021年のベスト・ブックの1つにこの本を選んでいる。神学者のティナ・ビーティーと心理学者のクリストファー・ファーガソンはそれぞれタブレット誌[14]と「サイコロジー・トゥデイ」ブログ[26]に肯定と否定の入り混じった書評を寄稿している。ロサンゼルス・レヴュー・オブ・ブックス誌[27]は否定的な書評を掲載し、トランスジェンダーの精神衛生を専門とする研究者のジャック・ターバンは「サイコロジー・トゥデイ」ブログ[5]でこの本を否定的に評価している。「サイエンス・ベースド・メディシン」ブログは医師のハリエット・ホールによる肯定的な書評を掲載したが [注 1]、その後この本を批判する記事をシリーズで掲載している[28]。
