ダイアン・リーヴス（Dianne Reeves、1956年10月23日 - ）は、アメリカ合衆国のジャズ歌手。ミシガン州デトロイト生まれ。

アルバムよりライブでのパフォーマンスで知られる。ディー・ディー・ブリッジウォーター、ダイアナ・クラール、カサンドラ・ウィルソンと並んで、現代最も重要な女性ジャズ・シンガーと見なされている。

生い立ち

ダイアンの家族は音楽一家で、彼女が2歳のときに亡くなった父親も歌手、母親 Vada Swanson はトランペット奏者だった。従兄のジョージ・デュークはよく知られたピアニストでプロデューサー。ダイアンと姉妹のシャロン（Sharon）はコロラド州デンバーの祖母の家で育った。子供時代、ダイアンはピアノのレッスンを受け、あらゆる機会に歌を歌った。11歳のとき、音楽が生徒を最善の道へ導くと教えている教師によってインスパイアされ、彼女の音楽への関心は高まった。ダイアンは音楽の中に愛を見つけ、歌手になりたいと思った。デンバー交響楽団の金管楽器奏者だったダイアンのおじチャールズ・バレル（Charles Burell）は、エラ・フィッツジェラルドからビリー・ホリデイまで、ジャズ・シンガーを彼女に教えた。ダイアンは、特にサラ・ヴォーンに感銘を受けた。

来歴

1974年、16歳のとき、デンバーのジョージ・ワシントン高校のビッグバンドで歌を歌った。そのバンドは、Convention of the National Association of Jazz Educators という音楽フェスティバルで演奏した。そのフェスティバルでバンドは優勝し、ダイアンはそのフェスティバルで、後に助言者となるトランペット奏者のクラーク・テリーに出会った。

1975年、1年後の1976年にロサンゼルスへと移るまで、ダイアンはデンバー大学で音楽を学び始めた。ロサンゼルスで、彼女は次第にラテンアメリカ音楽に興味を引かれていった。彼女はこれまでと違う種類の音楽のボーカルを試み始め、ついに、歌手としての道を歩むことを決めた。彼女はエドゥアルド・デル・バリオ（Eduardo del Barrio）に出会い、彼のグループであるカルデラとツアーを行い、ビリー・チャイルズのジャズバンド、ナイト・フライツ（Night Flights）で歌った。後に、彼女はセルジオ・メンデスとツアーを行った。
