デヴィッド・ハーヴェイ

デヴィッド・ハーヴェイ（David Harvey、1935年10月31日 - ）は、アメリカ合衆国の社会学者・地理学者。専門は、都市社会学、人文地理学。

略歴

イギリス・ケント州生まれ。ケンブリッジ大学より博士号取得。ブリストル大学講師、ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学准教授・教授、オックスフォード大学教授を経て、現在、ニューヨーク市立大学名誉教授。

マルクス主義を地理学に応用した批判的地理学の第一人者。 彼の教育・研究・政治的関わりは、社会的公平に対する深い関心を反映している。 今日、地理学分野では、世界で最も多く論文が引用される学者である。

スウェーデンのレッツイウス金メダル、イギリス王立地理学会のパトロン・メダル、ヴォートリン・ルド国際賞などの多くの受賞歴を誇る。 アルゼンチンのブエノスアイレス大学とデンマークのロスキルド大学から名誉博士号を授与されている。 1988年には大英学士院の会員に選ばれている。
