1998年のオーストラリアスーパーツーリング選手権は、スーパーツーリングカーの規制に基づいてオーストラリアでCAMSが認可したモーターレースシリーズの6年目のシリーズ。 4月5日のカルダーパーク・レースウェイで開幕し、8月30日のオラン・パーク・レースウェイで終了した。このシリーズは、TOCAオーストラリアによって1998年のBOCガスオーストラリアスーパーツーリングチャンピオンシップとして宣伝された。BTCCと同様に、レース形式が変更され、各ミーティングはより短い「スプリント」レースと「フィーチャー」レースで構成され、15〜75％の間に2タイヤストップが義務付けらた為、以前のレースよりも25％長くなった。距離。唯一の例外は、ピットレーンに問題があったレイクサイドレースウェイだった。

チームとドライバーの変更[編集]

  • 1997年のチャンピオンシップ優勝者であるポール・モリスとBMWは、BMWがツーリングカーの運用を縮小したため、シリーズを去った。
  • ボルボはジム・リチャーズのマシンを850から新しいS40 [1]に切り替えた。
  • キャメロン・マクリーンは、1997年にレースを行ったオペル/ホールデン・ベクトラから、1997年のチャンピオンマシンのBMW [2]乗り換えまた。
  • トニー・ニューマンは元BTCCで使用されたプジョー・406にアップグレードした[3]
  • マーク・アダートンはトヨタ・カムリからホンダ・アコードに切り替えた。 [4]

  5. ^ 出場クラスのレース未開催 - 2005年以降の「アメリカグランプリ」は、2ストロークエンジンの規制によって125ccクラス・250ccクラスが未開催。2010年に250ccクラスがMoto2クラスに、2012年に125ccクラスがMoto3クラスへとレギュレーションが変更され、全クラスが4ストロークエンジンを使用するようになる。しかし、2012年もアメリカグランプリはMotoGPクラスのみ開催する。
