ジョン・ルカーチ (John Adalbert Lukacs、ハンガリー語表記ではルカーチ・ヤーノシュ・アルベルト (Lukács János Albert [ˈlukɑ̈ːt͡ʃ ˌjɑ̈ːnoʃ ˌɒrbɛrt]) 、1924年1月31日 - 2019年5月6日）は、アメリカ合衆国在住の歴史学者。ハンガリーとアメリカ合衆国の二重国籍である。
略歴[編集]
ハンガリー王国の首都ブダペストで進歩的なカトリック教徒の父とユダヤ人の母の間に生まれ、ハンガリー王立パーズマーニュ・ペーテル大学の文学部歴史学科に学ぶ。第二次世界大戦が勃発すると枢軸国だったハンガリーはドイツ側に付いて参戦。ルカーチも徴兵されたが脱走する。両親は第二次世界大戦前に離婚。カトリック教徒として育てられたが、母がユダヤ人であったため、ユダヤ法の規定により第二次世界大戦中、労務に徴用され、やがて絶滅収容所に送られる恐れがあったが、うまくそれを逃れ、またブダペスト空襲にも生き残ることに成功した。
占領軍だったソ連に対する幻想はなく、1946年、イギリスに移りケンブリッジ大学で学んだ。その後アメリカ合衆国に移住。1947年から1994年までペンシルベニア州のチェスナットヒル・カレッジ (Chestnut Hill College)歴史学科で教鞭をとったほか、ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学、コロンビア大学、プリンストン大学、母国ハンガリーのエトヴェシュ・ロラーンド大学などの客員教授を務めた。
