アイアンウッド

アイアンウッド（英語: ironwood）とは、以下の事項を指す語である。

樹種[編集]

キリラ科（英語版）キリラ属（英語版）の Cyrilla racemiflora^[1]。
カバノキ科クマシデ属のアメリカシデ（Carpinus caroliniana）^[2]。
ノウゼンカズラ科Handroanthus属の複数の樹種。かつてはタベブイア属（Tabebuia）に分類されていた。イペを参照。
バラ科の Lyonothamnus floribundus^[2]。
モクセイ科オリーブ属のオレア・カペンシス（Olea capensis）^[3]。
カバノキ科アサダ属（英語版）のアメリカアサダ（Ostrya virginiana）^[4]。
マンサク科のペルシヤパロッティア^[4]（Parrotia persica）^[5]。前に Persian と冠する場合もある^[4]。
マメ科の Prosopis africana^[6]。

また、前後に地名など他の語が付された呼称も存在する。

Borneo ironwood: ボルネオテツボク（Eusideroxylon zwageri）。通称: ウリン、ビリアンなど。
Ceylon ironwood:
- テリハボク科（旧オトギリソウ科 Guttiferae）のセイロンテツボク（Mesua ferrea^[7]; 別名: セイロンテリハボク、テツザイノキ）^[8]。
- アカテツ科のパライ（Manilkara hexandra）^[7]。
desert ironwood: マメ科のデザートアイアンウッド（Olneya tesota）^[9]。
ironwood of Burma: マメ科のピンカド pyinkado（Xylia xylocarpa^[7]; シノニム: X. dolabriformis）。「ビルマ鐵木」^[10]（ビルマテツボク^[11]）とも訳されている。ビルマ語表記は ပျဉ်းကတိုး [pjɪ́ŋ ɡədó]^[11]。
iron wood of Malabar: フタバガキ科のマラバルテツボク（Hopea parviflora）^[7]。
iron-wood tree: ノボタン科のソメモノコメツブノボタン（Memecylon edule）^[7]。
Moluccan ironwood: マメ科のタシロマメ^[8]（Intsia bijuga; 別名: タイヘイヨウテツボク^[7]、シロヨナ、シロマメ^[8]）。
Philippine ironwood: フトモモ科のフィリピンテツボク（Xanthostemon verdugonianus）^[7]。
Polynesian ironwood: トクサバモクマオウ（Casuarina equisetifolia; 別名: トキワギョリュウ）。「濠洲鐵木」（ごうしゅうてつぼく）とも訳されている^[10]。
red ironwood: オクナ科ボンゴシ属の Lophira lanceolata^[6]。採取された標本が同属の別種ボンゴシ（L. alata; 別名: アソベなど）と誤同定されるほど紛らわしい場合がある^[6]。
Uganda ironwood: マメ科のムヒンビ muhimbi（Cynometra alexandri）^[7]。ムヒンビの名はニョロ語に由来する^[12]。
