幻肢痛

幻肢痛（げんしつう、英Phantom Pain）は、怪我や病気によって体の一部を切断した後、あるはずもない肉体が痛む症状。例えば足を切断したにも関わらず、つま先に痛みを感じるといった状態を指す。あるはずのない手の先端があるように感じる、すなわち幻肢の派生症状である。

詳しい原因は判っていない。脳内にある体の各部位に対応するマップが、その部位を失ったにも関わらず更新されないことが影響しているのではないか、という説がある。電流を流した万力で潰されるような痛みがあるという。

痛み止めの薬や麻酔は効果がない。内部に鏡のある箱に失っていない手を入れ、「グー・パー」などと動かすと痛みが消えたという報告もあるが、決定的な治療法は見つかっていない。また、この療法を「ミラーセラピー」という。
