R. マイケル・フィーナー（英語: R. Michael Feener、1969年7月19日 - ）は、アメリカのイスラム研究者。京都大学東南アジア地域研究研究所教授。
略歴[編集]
米国マサチューセッツ州セイラム生まれ。1991年コロラド大学ボルダー校卒業、1999年ボストン大学大学院修士・博士課程修了。2006年7月からシンガポール国立大学アジア研究所宗教・グローバリゼーション研究クラスターのリサーチリーダーを務め、2016年からオックスフォード大学歴史学部オックスフォードイスラム研究センターのスルタン・オブ・フェローとして勤務。2020年４月から京都大学東南アジア地域研究研究所の教授として教鞭をとる[1]。オックスフォード大学歴史学部客員教員[2]およびメルボルン大学法学部インドネシア法・イスラーム・社会研究センターのシニアアソシエイトを兼任[3]。現在、海域アジア遺産調査のプロジェクトディレクターとして南アジア海域四ヵ国(モルディブ、スリランカ、インドネシア、ヴェトナム）を対象とした文化遺産アーカイブプロジェクトを実施している[4]。
また、このほかにも、リード大学、カリフォルニア大学リバーサイド校、ハーバード大学、社会科学高等研究院（パリ）、コペンハーゲン大学、マカオ大学、ドリス・デューク財団（ホノルル）、ライデン大学国際アジア研究所（IIAS）など世界各地で客員教授や研究員として教育研究活動に携わってきた[5]。
研究[編集]
専門のイスラーム研究、東南アジア史のほか、法と社会、災害復興、宗教と開発などの幅広い分野で精力的に研究を展開している[6]。
委員歴[編集]
王立アジア協会誌、王立アジア協会ブックシリーズ、ヴァナキュラー・インドネシア・ブックシリーズ、スタディア・イスラミカ、アジア民族学、イスラーム法と社会、ライデン大学イスラームと社会研究センター・イスラム研究ブックシリーズ、オープンヘリテージ3D、消滅木造建築プログラム（EWAP）の編集・諮問委員会を務める[7]。アジア研究協会の終身会員、王立アジア協会のフェロー。
賞歴[編集]
1987年ボーイスカウトのピーボディ119隊（米国マサチューセッツ州）よりイーグルスカウト賞を受賞。2002年クロニクル・オブ・ハイヤー・エデュケーション誌で「期待の星」として紹介された[8]。これまで、ヘンリー・ルース財団やリスベット・ラウジング＆ペーター・ボールドウィン夫妻が設立した慈善基金であるアルカディア基金など、数多くの財団から大型研究助成金を獲得。
