ゴールデン・ダイアモンド（英：Golden Diamond）は、ロンドン大学の旗艦校であるユニヴァーシティ・カレッジ・ロンドン(University College London, UCL)のデイヴ・デルピィ副学長(2006年当時)が提唱した、英国大学内で研究費予算額がトップの5校[1](又は7校[2])を指す研究集約型エリート大学群の総称である[3][4][5][6]。参照される全ての大学がラッセル・グループのメンバーであり、世界大学ランキング、欧州、国内全てにおいて最上位を占めている[7][8]。基本的にケンブリッジ大学、オックスフォード大学、ユニヴァーシティ・カレッジ・ロンドン(UCL)、インペリアル・カレッジ・ロンドン(ICL)、マンチェスター大学(UoM)の5校を指すが、これにロンドン・スクール・オブ・エコノミクス(LSE)とキングス・カレッジ・ロンドン(KCL)が加えられることもある[9][10][11]。

2006年当時のUCL副学長、デイヴ・デルピィ教授がタイムズ紙が公表した研究主導型大学の情報等も考慮し、『学術研究における強豪校5校』としてケンブリッジ大学、マンチェスター大学(UoM)、オックスフォード大学、UCL、インペリアル・カレッジ・ロンドン(ICL)の順に挙げた[3][6]。この名称が単に研究費ランキングではなく、オックスブリッジに次ぐ名門大学群であるという認識が広まるにつれ、知名度や実績、名門度合い等からLSEやKCLも考慮されるべきとの風潮が広まった[12][13]。しかし、UoMを除く6校で既にゴールデン・トライアングルという名称も存在することから、本名称は純粋に研究費総額トップ5校のみを指すことが多い。
