Is "Ocean chemistry"="海洋化学" and "Chemical oceanography"="化学海洋学" in Japanese? ——Shakiestone 2012年1月2日 (月) 05:43 (UTC)

IMHO, chemical oceanography (a field of scientific study) is "海洋化学" in Japanese.
We don't seem to have a handy Japanese word for ocean chemistry (the composition, properties, and reactions of substances in the sea), but the translation would probably be something like "海洋物質の化学的性質". --Dwy 2012年1月2日 (月) 10:03 (UTC)
It's pleased with your quick reply. From your reply, I can comprehend the meaning of term "化学" in Japanese, which refers only a discipline. However, "化学" in Chinese can refer to both disciplines（“生物化学”=Biochemistry、“有机化学”=Organic chemistry...） and chemical properties of objects in many disciplines; “蛋白质化学” refers to “蛋白质的化学性质(chemical properties of protein)” researched in biochemistry instead of a discipline name. Request for undeletion of the page I created[編集]

Hi, the page (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/FactSet_Research_Systems) I created a while ago has a warning message for speedy deletion. I would like to request not to have it deleted because it did not violate any policy for deletion. Although, there's a note that it was copied from another source, I was the one who created that other article which was also deleted before. Please help. Hi, I understand the copy right for page マネジメントシステム審査登録のためのドイツ機関 is questioned by a user. I recently added a new picture (File:Dylan and Cole Sprouse with Piper.jpg at Commons) to the article ディラン&コール・スプラウス, but I used an online translator to write the caption, so I'm not sure if it's right. チェック 済 Hi Purplewowies, I think your caption works! The one thing the online translator mistook was it did not put dot between name and family name. レジンキャスト interwiki[編集]

The English interwiki of レジンキャスト is linking to en:resin casting, where the material and the process is described, the German interwiki is linking to de:Vergussanlage, where casting plants (the equipment to process cast resin) are described. There is also a German article de:Gießharz which corresponds to the English article en:resin casting. What is decribed in your article? The equipment or the material/process? Funds Dissemination Committee: Input requested[編集]

I would like to post a message to this Wikipedia to invite Wikipedians to provide input on the Funds Dissemination Committee.

As many of you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation is working with The Bridgespan Group to develop a process for allocating movement funds to programs and other projects. As a part of this, the Board of Trustees resolved to create a Funds Dissemination Committee to make recommendations around how funds should be divided and allocated. Over the next months, we will be developing the FDC’s charter and clear processes around funds dissemination. As we do this, we invite you to share your thoughts on how this process can best support the movement’s mission in a fair and transparent way.

Translation and deleting request[編集]

The German National Library (ドイツ国立図書館, DNB) has lanched a new en:Universal Authority File (Gemeinsame Normdatei, GND), replacing the old en:Name Authority File (PND). The GND is used in Template:Normdaten (de) and Template:DNB-Portal. Can someone translate the article about the Universal Authority File (GND) and delete the deprecated (outdated) Template:DM? どちらも 1.が正しいです。それぞれ「ホ」は [ho]、「フォ」は [ɸo]、「チ」は [tɕi] 、「ツィ」は [tsi] と発音します。
なお、smartphone「スマートフォン」「スマートホン」、Zigeunerweisen「チゴイネルワイゼン」「ツィゴイネルワイゼン」といった表記に揺れのある例では、本来なら「スマートフォン」と書いてある場合は [sɯmaatoɸoN]、「スマートホン」と書いてある場合は [sɯmaatohoN] と発音すべきですが、人によって、書かれているのとは違うほうの発音をする場合もときどきあります。しかし書いてある文字のとおりに発音するのが原則であると考えて下さい。またこれは一部の語彙に限ってみられる現象で、すべての「ホ」「フォ」間、「チ」「ツィ」間で生じるわけではありません。たとえば fork「フォーク」[ɸookɯ] を「ホーク」と表記することはなく、[hookɯ] と発音することも（外来語の発音が苦手な一部高齢者を除いて）ほぼありません。

Template:Location map Japan Kyoto city[編集]

Hi,

I'm currently working on Kyoto-related articles on the French Wikipedia, and thus I had to create a geolocalization template for the city. The result can be seen here in French or there in English. I have already converted the template for the Japanese Wikipedia here, but I couldn't find an infobox to test it (something like this one with the ""|pushpin_map ="" line).

So I would need someone to test it, and eventually tell me if everything is OK.

Japanese army march question[編集]

I was translating the 抜刀隊 article into Russian and stumbled over a statement that a military march called 陸軍分列行進曲 was used in the Imperial Japanese army before 1945 and now is used by the JGSDF and police as an official music piece. These statements are unsourced. I tried to find sources in google and failed. The only thing I could find with the "official JGSDF march" query was some "Oozora" march which was totally not what I looked for. So is there any official notion of the official JGSDF (or at least official IAJ) march, or there is no such thing at all and JGSDF has no special music? ru:Ari

The corresponding article seems to be 担. However, I note that according to en:Picul, it seems to be originally a Javanese word, not Japanese. Perhaps you might want to expand (and rename?) cs:Bikoru referring en:Picul before connecting it with interwiki links. The word Bikoru in Japanese is merely a transliteration of the original word.
