アルフレッド・ジマーン

アルフレッド・ジマーン（Sir Alfred Eckhard Zimmern、1879年 - 1957年）は、イギリスの歴史学者、政治学者。

生涯

サリー州サービトン（現在はキングストン・アポン・テムズ王立特別区の一区域）生まれ。ウィンチェスター・カレッジで学び、ベルリン大学留学中はウルリヒ・フォン・ヴィラモーヴィッツ＝メレンドルフに師事した。

オックスフォード大学ニュー・カレッジで古代史を講じた後、1912年から1919年まで教育省や外務省で実務に携わった。第一次世界大戦後、ウェールズ大学に新設された国際関係論講座の教授に就任。その後、コーネル大学（1922年 - 1923年）、オックスフォード大学（1930年 - 1944年）で教鞭をとった。アメリカ・コネチカット州ハートフォードにて没。
