ジョン・ラギー

ジョン・ジェラルド・ラギー（John Gerard Ruggie、1944年10月18日 - 2021年9月16日）は、アメリカ合衆国の国際政治学者。

生涯

オーストリア・グラーツで生まれ、1956年、カナダに移住。マックマスター大学卒業、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校より博士号取得。カリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校教授、コロンビア大学教授、ハーバード大学・ケネディ行政大学院教授を歴任。

1997年から2000年まで、コフィー・アナン国連事務総長のシニア・アドバイザーを務め、企業に対し人権・労働基準・環境の分野における9原則への支持と実践を求める「グローバル・コンパクト」の設立に尽力した。

業績

埋め込まれた自由主義

「埋め込まれた自由主義 embedded liberalism」とは、第二次大戦後から1970年代までの先進諸国で支配的だった政治経済体制を指し、国際領域における自由主義経済と国内領域における福祉国家という一見矛盾した状況を解明した。

新現実主義批判

ケネス・ウォルツが打ち出したネオリアリズムでは、システムレベルを重視するあまり、ヨーロッパ中世秩序から近代の主権国家秩序への移行が説明できない点を指摘した。
