Asuka Saito[1]（斉藤明日香: サイトウアスカ ）は、アメリカを拠点に活動するジュエリーアーティスト。

略歴[編集]

1984年、北海道に生まれる。2005年渡米。サンフランシスコ州立大学在学時に心理学、色彩学、宝石学を学ぶ。サンフランシスコ日本街にある宝石店にて経験を積む傍ら、Alan RevereやNyya Larkに師事、ジュエリー制作の基礎を学び、Gemological Institute of America[2]などで資格を取得。後にジュエリーアーティストとしてオリジナルデザインの制作活動を始める。

アメリカ国内外での国際デザインコンテストにて、グランプリをはじめ数々の賞を受賞。世界各地でのアートイベントや美術館で作品展示。また、国内外に問わず様々なメディア媒体で紹介される。毎年イタリアで開催される国際デザインコンテスト (Ａ' Design Award & Competition) にて、2017年より審査員を務める。他アーティストとのコラボレーションでファッションショーへ参加、ミュージックビデオでのジュエリー提供、また、北カリフォルニア最大の桜祭り[3]にて行われるクイーンプログラム[4]において、ファーストプリンセス受賞者へ贈られる賞品ジュエリーのデザインを6年連続手掛けるなど、活動の場を広げる。

優雅でゴージャスでありながらも、ただのステータスシンボルではない、身につけられるアートというコンセプトのもと、自然界に見る色や形状にインスパイアされながら制作。西洋と日本の文化を融合し、それまでジュエリーに使われていなかった素材や技法を取り入れたデザインを制作している。
