モーデカイ・キュービット・クック(Mordecai Cubitt Cooke、1825年7月12日 – 1914年11月12日)は、イギリスの植物学者、菌類学者である[1][2][3][4]。
略歴
[編集]ノーフォークのホーニングの商人の家に生まれた。繊維商の見習いとして働いた後、法律事務所の事務員になるが、植物学への興味から、1862年にアマチュア植物クラブを創立し、ランベスの公立学校で博物学を教え、インド省のインド博物館で1860年から学芸員として働いた。1879年にインド博物館の植物標本がキューガーデン(王立植物園)に移されることになった時、クックもキューガーデンに移った。
1965年から1893年の間、エドワード・ステップと学生や植物愛好家の交流と科学読み物を提供する月刊の科学雑誌、Hardwicke's Science Gossipを発行し、1872年から1894年の間、隠花植物、菌類の研究誌、Grevilleaの編集を行った。
1902年に王立園芸協会のヴィクトリア名誉メダルを受賞し、1903年にロンドン・リンネ協会のリンネ・メダルを受賞した。菌類の研究で、アメリカ合衆国のセント・ローレンス大学、イェール大学、ニューヨーク大学から名誉学位を受けた。
