キャサリン・ケニコット・デーヴィス（1892年6月25日– 1980年4月20日）は、アメリカの作曲家、ピアニスト、アレンジャー、教師である。後に「リトル・ドラマー・ボーイ」として知られるクリスマスソング「キャロル・オブ・ザ・ドラム」の作曲で知られる。

人生とキャリア[編集]

デーヴィスは1892年6月25日、ミズーリ州セントジョセフで生まれた。彼女は15歳で最初の曲「シャドウマーチ」を作曲した。彼女は1910年にセントジョセフ高校を卒業し、マサチューセッツ州のウェルズリー大学で音楽を学んだ [1] 。1914年に彼女は大学のビリング賞を受賞した [1] [2]。卒業後、彼女はウェルズリーで音楽学部の助手として音楽理論とピアノを教え続けた。同時に、彼女はボストンのニューイングランド音楽院で学んだ [1]。デーヴィスはまた、パリでナディア・ブーランジェに師事した [3]。彼女はマサチューセッツ州コンコードのコンコードアカデミーとフィラデルフィアのシェイディーヒルスクールフォーガールズで音楽を教えた。
