Galaxy Store（ギャラクシーストア）は、Samsungが運営するGalaxy向けアプリケーションストア。ユーザーは、アプリやゲーム、専用テーマなどをダウンロードできる[1]。
Galaxyのスマートフォンやタブレットに標準インストールされている[2]。
歴史[編集]
Galaxy Storeの起源は、2008年に開始されたモバイル開発者プログラム「Samsungモバイル イノベーター」にある。Samsung Mobile Applicationsは、Handangoが提供するアプリストアで、Windows Mobile、シンビアン、Java ME向けのソフトウェアを提供するもので、モバイルワールドコングレス2009で開始された[3]。2009年第3四半期までに中国と欧州数カ国でサービスを開始した。
2009年9月14日、Samsungアプリは当初、西ヨーロッパでサービスを開始し、サムスンオムニア（i900）およびサムスンオムニアHD（i8910）スマートフォン向けのソフトウェアを提供した[4]。2010年には、Samsung Waveが搭載するバダ・プラットフォーム向けのアプリの提供を開始した[5]。欧州では2010年9月までに1,000万件のアプリがダウンロードされ、Java、Windows Mobile、Badaアプリで構成されていた[6]。
スマートテレビ向けのSamsung TVアプリもあり、2011年10月までに1,000万ダウンロードを記録した。サムスンはまた、フリー・ザ・テレビ・チャレンジと呼ばれる開発者チャレンジも開催し、2010年にモバイルでお絵かきをしてテレビ画面に表示できるアプリケーション、WeDrawが優勝した[7]。
2011年3月、アンドロイドを搭載したギャラクシーライン向けにサムスンアプリが開始された。サムスンAppsは2011年の2周年までに40,000のアプリケーションを提供した[5]。このストアは、サムスンのウェアラブル・ギアとサムスンのフィーチャーフォンREXでも提供された。
2018年、サムスンは「Best of Galaxy Store Awards」と呼ばれる、優秀な開発者を毎年表彰するアワードを開始した。サムスン開発者式典での第1回アワードでは、Booking.comが「ベストアプリ」、Wrist Cameraが「ベストウォッチアプリ」などを受賞した[8]。
2019年初頭、One UIの導入後すぐに、Galaxy AppsはGalaxy Storeにリブランドされた[9]。2020年10月、ストアのデザインが一新され、ゲームに重点が置かれるようになった。

サードパーティー製アプリ[編集]
Galaxy端末は、Google Playを搭載するGoogleモバイルサービス(GMS)のプラットフォーム上で動作しているにもかかわらず、Firefox、Microsoft 365、Wikipediaといったサードパーティ製アプリもGalaxy Storeにて利用できる。フォートナイトなど、一部のAndroid向けゲームアプリはGalaxy Storeで独占販売されている[18]。
