カーデール・バビントン（Charles Cardale Babington、1808年11月23日 - 1895年7月22日 は、イギリスの植物学者、考古学者である。1843年に刊行された"Manual of British Botany"はイギリスの植物に関する名著として評価されている。ジョン・スティーブンス・ヘンズローが没した後、ケンブリッジ大学の植物学教授職を引き継いだ。

ラッドロー（Ludlow）に生まれた。父親は神父で、任地がしばしば変わり、バビントンも学校を変わった。最終的にバースに住んだ。父親と小旅行を行い、植物学への興味を育んだ。1826年からケンブリッジ大学のセント・ジョンズ・カレッジで学び始め、植物学教授のヘンズローとつきあい、事実上の助手として働いた。1830年にロンドン・リンネ協会の会員となった。昆虫にも興味を抱き、ロンドン昆虫学会の創立メンバーの一人となった。

1834年に最初の植物学の仕事である、"flora Bathoniensis"（「バースの植物相」）を発表した。1835年にジョン・ボールとアイルランドを訪れ、学術誌、Magazine of Natural History reportに記事を書いた。1835年にロンドン地質学会の会員となり、1837年に17世紀の博物学者、ジョン・レイの名を冠したレイ・クラブの創立メンバーとなり、1844年にレイ協会になった後、1848年から1893年の間事務長を務めた。

1839年に2冊目の著書、"Primitiae Flora Sarnicae"（「チャネル諸島の植物相の概要」）を発表し、1842年に雑誌、Annals and Magazine of Natural Historyの共同編集者となった。1843年に"Manual of British Botany"を発表した。1724年のヨハン・ヤーコプ・ディレンによる、ジョン・レイの 『英国の植物の体系』 ("Synopsis Methodica Stirpium Britannicarum"") の改訂版以来のイギリスの植物相に関する包括的な著作で、バビントンは生涯に渡って、8版まで改訂出版した。1846年にイギリスのキイチゴ属に関する、著作"Synopsis of the British Rubi"を執筆し、1869年にも"British Rubi"を執筆した。1846年には、バービントン唯一のイギリス外の調査としてアイスランドを訪れた。

1851年に王立協会の会員となり、イギリス科学振興協会の植物・動物部会の会長を何度か務めた。1861年にヘンズローの後をついで、ケンブリッジ大学の植物学の教授となった。ケンブリッジ大学の教授時代には、ジョン・リンドリーや、レオン・ジュネヴィエ(Léon Gaston Genevier)などから標本を入手し標本館を充実させた。、

植物学に加えて、考古学にも関心を持ち、ケンブリッジ古物協会（Cambridge Antiquarian Society）を立ち上げ、会報に50以上の記事を書いた。カンブリア紀古生物協会（Cambrian Archaeological Association ）の会員で、会長も務めた。考古学分野の著書にはAncient Cambridgeshire（「古代のケンブリッジ」）がある。

フトモモ科の属名、Babingtonia Lindl.に献名された。
