English: A picture postcard (postmarked August 9, 1914/Taisho 3) of Kirishima, a battlecruiser under construction at Mitsubishi Shipyards (Nagasaki) at the time. The writing on the leaf evokes the atmosphere of the times. The text says: "Europe's heaven and earth war cloud flies in turmoil in East Asia, and suddenly, how many people will be able to seize the last supremacy? I don't really feel like my bones are pounding, but I'm under the Mitsubishi heavyweight here. Don't you see the gallant figure of our newly built battleship Kirishima (Mama), which lays its gigantic hull resolutely like a giant lion that stands in the command without compromising its strength? The summer day of the third year of Taisho.
