ケニー・オデル
ケニー・オデル（Kenny O'Dell、本名Kenneth Gist Jr., 1944年 - 2018年3月28日[1]）は北米のカントリー音楽歌手・ソングライター。 オクラホマ州アントラーズ生まれ。
経歴[編集]
13歳の時には音楽活動を始め、19歳で自身のレコードレーベル、Mar-Kayを結成し、 "Old Time Love"という曲で局地的なヒットをした。
初期にはギタリストのデュアン・エディーと活動し、自分のバンドGuys and Dollsを結成した。
カントリー・ヒット『Behind Closed Doors』をチャーリー・リッチに、『Mama He's Crazy』をザ・ジャッズに提供したことで知られる。
リッチの『Behind Closed Doors』は1973年にグラミー賞最優秀カントリー・アンド・ウェスタン・レコーディング賞受賞。
1972年に自作のシングル『I Take It On Home』がトップ10になった。
ナッシュヴィルのソングライターの殿堂に入っている。
1967年のシングル『Beautiful People』がポップで38位、1968年に『Springfield Plane』がローカル・ヒット。
『Let's Shake Hands and Come Out Lovin'』は1978年にカントリーでトップ10になった。
ナッシュヴィルに移住したときにはBobby Goldsboroの音楽出版社を経営していた。
ロレッタ・リンの1974年の『Trouble in Paradise』など、オデル作品をカバーしてヒットした例がいくつかある。
2018年3月27日にナッシュビルにて死去。73歳没。
