Operated by 4/KG30 of the Luftwaffe and temporarily based at Banak, Norway.
On 13th April 1942 it attacked two Soviet ships, the ‘Kiev’ and ‘Occident’, but ran out of fuel during the return flight. The crew bailed out near Hammerfest and the aircraft crashed on Gardevarre mountain, inland from Smørfjord.
Recovered in 1982, the remains were initially on display at the Norwegian Air Force Museum at, Gardermoen, Oslo, but were moved to Bodø in 2003.
Although coded 4D+AM on its last flight, the remains are now clearly marked as ‘BH+..’ on the port side ‘..+QQ’ on the starboard side. I would guess that this is its original delivery code ‘BH+QQ’.
Unrestored, she is now on display in the Military Aircraft Hall of the Norsk Luftfartsmuseum (Norwegian Aviation Museum).
Bodø, Northern Norway
