| 解説 |
A U.S. Navy Douglas UA-3B Skywarrior (BuNo 144834) of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 2 (VQ-2) with the starboard forward camera window plated over following damage incurred during a night landing aboard USS Coral Sea (CV-43) on 31 October 1987 when a 34 kg lead ballast weight broke lose. Pilot was LTJG Dasher and NFO was LCDR Greg Cassady, USNR. VQ-2 was based at Naval Air Station Rota, Spain. This aircraft was delivered to the U.S. Navy as an RA-3B reconnaissance plane. Later it was converted for use at the Pacific Missile Test Center (PTMC) at Point Mugu, California (USA) and was designated NRA-3B and later TNRA-3B. Its final designation became UA-3B and the aircraft served with reconnaissance squadron VQ-2 (shown here) and electronic warfare squadron VAQ-34. The plane was finally retired in August 1990. |
