本稿では「情報検索（じょうほうけんさく）とは、コンピュータを用いて大量のデータ群から目的に合致したデータを取り出すための技術。」と定義されていますが、これは英語版の定義「Information retrieval (IR) is the art and science of searching for information in documents, searching for documents themselves, searching for metadata which describe documents, or searching within databases, whether relational stand alone databases or hypertext networked databases such as the Internet or intranets, for text, sound, images or data. There is a common confusion, however, between data retrieval, document retrieval, information retrieval, and text retrieval, and each of these have their own bodies of literature, theory, praxis and technologies.」と比べると「コンピュータ技術」にかたよっています。 現実には「情報検索」は図書館情報学分野で 1950 年代から広く研究されてきた学問・技術であり、その観点の記述が必要です。紙の索引も情報検索の範疇に入ります。商用の多くの検索サービス、電子ジャーナル、Google Scholar などもその延長考えられます。目次を書き換えていただければ、その分野の記述を追加することができます。たとえば

1. 図書館情報における情報検索 2. 情報技術における情報検索

とわけていただき、現在の記述は 2 に移していただくのもひとつの方法です。ご検討お願いします。
