ダナンジャヤ（Dhananjaya、1985年8月23日[1] - ）は、インドのカンナダ語映画で活動する俳優、作詞家、映画プロデューサー。これまでにフィルムフェア賞 南インド映画部門、南インド国際映画賞を受賞している。

2013年に『Director's Special』で俳優デビューし、南インド国際映画賞カンナダ語映画部門新人男優賞を受賞した。2018年に出演した『Tagaru』で演じた悪役ダーリが当たり役となり、これ以降「ダーリ（Daali）」の通称で知られるようになった[2]。2022年に『Badava Rascal』でプロデューサーを務めている[3]。また、カンナダ語映画のほかにテルグ語映画[4]、タミル語映画にも出演している。

生い立ち[編集]

ダナンジャヤは7回生と10回生の時にハーサン県（英語版）でトップの成績を修める学業優秀な学生であり[5]、また幼少期からラージクマール（英語版）の主演映画を鑑賞して育ったこともあり、学生時代から演劇活動を始めた[6]。その後はマイスールのマリマラッパ高等学校（英語版）、JSS工科大学（英語版）に進学し[7][8]、卒業後はインフォシスに就職した。就職後は「ランガヤーナ（英語版）」のアーティストであるマイム・ラメーシュが主催するアマチュア劇団「GPIER」に参加して演劇活動を続け[7][8]、同時にドイツ人劇作家クリスティアン・シュテュックル（ドイツ語版）から演技の才能を認められ演技指導を受けていた[9][10]。ある舞台に出演した際、カンナダ語映画の監督グルプラサード（英語版）に才能を見出され、『Director's Special』に起用された[8]。

映画デビュー作はグルプラサードの『Director's Special』であり[11]、同作は3年以上の製作期間を経て2013年に公開されたが、興行的には失敗している。しかし、ダナンジャヤの演技は批評家から絶賛され、南インド国際映画賞のカンナダ語映画部門新人男優賞を受賞した。2014年に『Jayanagar 4th Block』という短編動画に出演しており、YouTubeでの再生回数は250万回を超えている[12]。2015年は『Rhaatee』でシュルティ・ハリハラン（英語版）と共演し、同年11月には『Boxer』に出演した。ダナンジャヤはキックボクサー役を演じ、役作りのために肉体トレーニングを行ったことで注目を集めた[13][14]。2017年にはT・S・ナーガーバラナ（英語版）の『Allama』で聖人アラマ・プラブ（英語版）役を演じ、役作りのためにムリダンガ（英語版）と古典舞踊を学び、批評家から高い評価を得た。

2018年に出演した『Tagaru』でシヴァ・ラージクマールと敵対する悪役ダーリを演じ、ダナンジャヤはキャリアの中で最大のヒットを記録した。監督のドゥニヤ・スーリー（英語版）は主にヒーロー役を演じてきたダナンジャヤに悪役をオファーすることを躊躇っていたため、彼が出演を承諾したことに驚きを感じたと語っている[15]。同作は批評家から絶賛され、興行的にも大きな成功を収めている。特に圧倒的な存在感を持つ悪役を演じたダナンジャヤは観客や批評家、カンナダ語映画界から絶賛され[16][17]、これ以降ダナンジャヤは役名から「ダーリ（Daali）」の通称で呼ばれるようになった[2]。その後は『Yajamana』でダルシャン（英語版）、『Yuvarathnaa』でプニート・ラージクマール、『Salaga』でドゥニヤ・ヴィジャイ（英語版）と共演し、他言語の映画界からも出演依頼が届くようになった[18]。

映画製作者[編集]

ダナンジャヤは俳優として成功を収めた後、映画製作会社ダーリ・プロダクションを設立して映画製作者としても活動するようになった[19]。初めて製作した作品は『Bhairava Geetha』であり[20][21]、2022年には実在のマフィアであるM・P・ジャヤラージ（英語版）を題材とした『Head Bush』を製作している[22][23]。また、作詞家として出演作品などの挿入歌の作詞も手掛けており、2022年の『Badava Rascal』では2曲の作詞を手掛け、このうち「Udupi Hotelu」はヒット曲となった[24]。2023年の『Orchestra Mysuru』では8曲の作詞を手掛けている[25][26]。
