Operated by the 553rd Naval Air Group of the Imperial Japanese Navy. During October 1944, redesignated to Hokuto Kōkūtai and the tail number changed 53-305 to H-305. It attempts to repel landing Russian forces on the Kuril Islands in August 1945. She was abandoned at an airfield on Shumshu Island and remained there untl recovered during 2003, along with several other aircraft.
She is one of only two remaining B5N airframes, the other is being restored by the Pacific Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbor.
