English: Nagoya Castle, built by Ieyasu Tokugawa in 1609, is one of the most wonderful castles in Japan (on par with Osaka Castle and Kumamoto Castle). It was burned down in an air raid during World War II, and rebuilt by the city of Nagoya in 1959. The castle's tower is decorated with famous golden Shachihoko, a mythic creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a fish.
