English: Between early summer and middle September 2017 this remaining original structure of the 450 year old castle of feudal era Fuchu was visible to citizens and visitors as part of the one year archaeological excavation and documentation of the site before foundations would be laid for the new administrative center for the city of Echizen to replace the 1950s cement building at the left (south). Despite petitions and protests to conserve the cultural heritage, the mayor pressed on with his agreement with the construction firms to build on top of the centuries of history and prehistory located here.
