English: Emperor Shōwa was so impressed with the untiring efforts of the citizens of Fukui for their recovery and reconstruction of the city from the catastrophic earthquake and the subsequent fire occurred in June 1948 that he made a Japanese poem to encourage them in 1962. The monument, as pictured, has been inscribed with his poem and has stood at the Keya-Kurotatsu Jinja Shrine in Fukui, Japan since the Heisei era.
