ホレス・アンディ（Horace Andy, 本名：ホレス・ハインズ（Horace Hinds）、1951年2月19日 - ）は、ジャマイカのキングストンに生まれた、ファルセットボイスを特徴とするレゲエ歌手[1]。芸名は、スタジオ・ワンのオーナーであるコクソン・ドッドがボブ・アンディにちなんで命名した[2]。
「Q誌の選ぶ歴史上最も偉大な100人のシンガー」において第86位[3]。
略歴[編集]
少年時代からコクソン・ドッドのレーベル、スタジオ・ワン周辺で音楽活動を開始し、アルトン・エリスにギターを、シルヴァン・モリスに音楽理論を学び[4]、1969年にスタジオ・ワンからアルバム『Skylarking』をリリース[5]。さらに同レーベルからは「Fever」[6]「Mr.Bassie」、「Girl I love you」、「Got To Be Sure」等、複数のヒット曲を放っている[4]。以降、Hit Bound[7]、Observer[8]、Wackie's[9]等のレーベルからも継続して作品をリリースした。
1990年、イギリス出身で元Akabuのメンバー、キャロラインと結婚し、イギリスに移住する[4]。1991年にはマッシヴ・アタックのファーストアルバム『Blue Lines』[10]へ参加した。同作は、全英チャート13位のヒットとなった。1994年にもマッシブ・アタックのアルバム『Protection』に参加し、全英チャート4位と更に大きなヒットを記録した。1981年に「Wackie's」からリリースした自身の楽曲「Spying Glass」をセルフカバーしボーカルも担当している[11]。以降、マッド・プロフェッサー[12]、ジャー・シャカ[13]と組み、それぞれのレーベルからアルバムをリリースしている。
