ロバート・アシュリー（Robert Ashley、1930年3月28日 - 2014年3月3日[1]）はアメリカ合衆国の作曲家。

生涯[編集]

ゴードン・ムンマらとともに前衛芸術グループONCEを設立。当初は「狼男」「弦楽四重奏曲」でみせる雑音派の一人と考えられていたが、すぐに劇場の作曲家へ転身した。彼の片腕として機能したジョアン・ラ・バーバラやブルー・ジーン・ティラニーの助けを借りながら「テレビ・オペラ[2]」という新たなジャンルを確立した。また彼は事前に録音された話し声を編集して超現実的な空間を生成することで名高く、『In Sara Mencken Christ and Beethoven There Were Men and Women』や『Perfect Lives』といった作品にこのテクニックが転用されている。

後期は騒音的な感覚が後退してシンセサイザーなどの電子音を多用した瞑想的な作風へ移った。2014年に自宅で死去。
