フォートローダーデール協定は「研究者コミュニティが論文で公表される前に、ゲノム配列データを自由に、制限なく利用できるようにすること」を支持する生物医学分野の研究者による公的な宣言である。 ウェルカムトラストが2003年にフロリダ、フォートローダーデールで主催した、およそ40人の参加者からなる会議で本協定は宣言された。[1] 本協定は、ゲノムデータを共有情報資源として維持・発展させていく責任は次の三者「研究費助成機関、情報資源の生産者と利用者」にあるとしている。[2] フォートローダーデール協定の信条は National Institute of Health を含む、関係する研究費助成機関に受け継がれている。[3]
バミューダ原則に加えて本協定は、生物医学文献のオープンアクセス運動の基礎となる文書であると考えられおり[4]、 以降のデータ共有とオープンアクセスのモデルに大きな影響を与えている。[5]
