I know very little Japanese, so sorry for the English, but it seems to me that the Katakana transliteration is wrong. The pronounciation of the vessel (being it French) is probably better written as "スールクーフ". It seems the original editor of the article assumed the English pronounciation as in "sure".（ 2005年11月12日 (土) 22:28 80.202.223.110さん）

Thank you for your information. I agree that the Katakana transliteration is not correct. The vessel "Surcouf" was named after Robert Surcouf, a famous French captain. For "sur" is pronounced as <syr> and "cou" is <ku>" in Frech, I think it should have been transliterated as "スールクーフ" or "スュルクーフ". But the Katakana "シュルクーフ" is the most frequently used in Japan, we had better discuss and make a consensus to change it. I'll propose the name change. 上で80.202.223.110さんが書いておられるように、"Surcouf" を「シュルクーフ」とするのは英語流の発音転記だと思われます。フランス語だと"sur" は<syr>（スュル、またはスール）、"cou"は <ku>（ク）"f"は<f>（フ）ですので、項目名変更を提案します。案としては

「スールクーフ」
「スルクフ」
「スュルクーフ」
「スュルクフ」

IRCで聞いてもらったところ、フランス語ネイティブ（Parisian）の<soufron>さんは「su-ru-ku-fu」、つまり「shuru」ではなく「suru」と発音するとのことでした。もう少し待って、異見がなければ「スルクフ」に移動しても良いのではないかと思います。--miya 2005年11月20日 (日) 00:42 (UTC)[返信]
