ライズ・アゲインスト (Rise Against) とは、アメリカ合衆国,イリノイ州,シカゴにて結成されたメロコアバンドである。2011年リリースの『Endgame』がビルボード・アルバムチャートにて初登場2位をマークするなど、結成から10年以上が経った現在も、メロコアバンドの中では圧倒的な人気を誇っている。

略歴[編集]

1999年、「88 Fingers Louie」と「Baxter」というバンドに在籍していたメンバー等を中心に、アメリカ合衆国,イリノイ州,シカゴにて結成。結成時のバンド名は、「Transistor Revolt」だった。それからまもなく、1stEP「Transistor Revolt」のレコーディングを行うが、完成後にドラマーのトニー・チンタリーがバンドから脱退する。後継者として、ブランドン・バーンズを迎え入れ、その後バンド名を現在の「Rise Against」へ変更。

2001年4月24日、1stアルバム『The Unraveling』をリリース。それから約1年後、ギタリストのミスター・プレシジョンがバンドから脱退したため、後継者としてトッド・モニーを迎え入れる。

2003年4月8日、2ndアルバム『Revolutions per Minute』をリリース。

2004年に入るとメジャーレーベルGeffen Recordsと契約を結ぶことに成功するも、それからまもなくトッド・モニーがバンドを脱退した為、後継者としてクリス・チェッセを迎え入れる。そして同年8月10日に3rdアルバム『Siren Song of the Counter Culture』をリリース。ビルボード・アルバムチャートにて初登場136位を記録し、バンド初となるアルバムチャートへのランクインを果たす。

2006年7月4日、4thアルバム『The Sufferer & the Witness』をリリース。ビルボード・アルバムチャートにて、前回を大きく上回る初登場10位を記録する。それから約1年後の2007年初頭、クリス・チェッセがバンドを脱退。新ギタリストにザック・ブレイヤーを迎え入れる。

2008年10月7日、5thアルバム『Appeal to Reason』をリリース。ビルボード・アルバムチャートにて初登場3位を記録する。

2011年3月11日、6thアルバム『Endgame』をリリース。全米ビルボード・アルバムチャートにて、初週に84000枚ほどを売り上げ、自身最高となる初登場2位を記録する。2012年末時点で、販売累計は32万枚を突破している。

2013年1月、ニューアルバム作成の開始を発表。9月10日、シングルB面曲、カバー曲、レア音源を収録したコンピレーションアルバム『Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers (2000–2013)』をリリース。全英アルバムチャート73位、Billboard 200チャート19位を記録。
