イヴ・セジウィック

イブ・コゾフスキー・セジウィック

イヴ・コゾフスキー・セジウィック（Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick、1950年5月2日 - 2009年4月12日）は、アメリカ合衆国の文学研究者。専門は、ジェンダー論、クィア理論。1985年の著作『男同士の絆―イギリス文学とホモソーシャルな欲望』により、「ホモソーシャル」という概念を普及させた。

経歴

オハイオ州デイトンのユダヤ人の一家に生まれる。旧姓はコゾフスキー。1969年にハル・セジウィックと結婚。なおイヴは両性愛者であったと言われている。

コーネル大学卒業後、イェール大学で博士号取得。ハミルトン・カレッジ、ボストン大学、アマースト大学、デューク大学、ニューヨーク市立大学大学院センターで教鞭を執った。

1985年、『Between Men: English Literature and Male Homosocial Desire』を出版。同書は日本では2001年に『男同士の絆―イギリス文学とホモソーシャルな欲望』のタイトルで訳出された。

2009年、乳癌のためニューヨークで死去。58歳没。
