顎関節（がくかんせつ）は、頭蓋骨のくぼみである側頭骨の下顎窩と下顎骨の関節突起部分である下顎頭を連結している関節であり、頭蓋で唯一の可動結合である[1]。哺乳類に特有の関節[2]で、顎関節は回転運動の他に前方へ滑走運動を行うことが可能なため、下顎骨は複雑な動きを行うことができる。
