レイリー男爵（英: Baron Rayleigh）は、連合王国貴族の男爵位。シャーロット・ストラットが1821年に叙されたのに始まる。
歴史[編集]
初代リンスター公爵ジェイムズ・フィッツジェラルド(1722-1773)の娘で庶民院議員ジョゼフ・ストラット中佐(1758-1845)と結婚した
シャーロット・メアリー・ガートルード・ストラット(1758–1836)は、1821年7月18日に連合王国貴族爵位エセックス州におけるターリング・プレイスのレイリー女男爵（Baroness Rayleigh, of Terling Place in the County of Essex）に叙された[1][2]。
初代女男爵の死後、その長男のジョン・ジェイムズ・ストラット(1796–1873)が2代男爵を継承した[2][3]。
2代男爵の死後、その長男ジョン・ウィリアム・ストラット(1842–1919)が3代男爵位を継承した[2][4]。彼は物理学者として著名でノーベル物理学賞を受賞した[5]。一般に「レイリー卿」というとこの第3代レイリー卿を指すことが多い。
3代男爵の死後、ロバート・ジョン・ストラット(1875–1947)が4代男爵を継承[2][6]。彼の死後はその長男ジョン・アーサー・ストラット(1908–1988)が5代男爵を継承した[2][7]。彼には子供がなかったため、彼の死後は甥（4代男爵の次男チャールズの長男）にあたるジョン・ジェラルド・ストラット(1960-)が6代男爵を継承した。彼が2016年現在の当主である[2][8]
邸宅はエセックス州・ターリングにあるターリング・プレイス[2]。
