スーザン・ブロックマン（Suzanne Brockmann、1960年 - ）は、アメリカ合衆国のロマンス作家。マサチューセッツ州ボストンのはずれに夫と2人の子供と暮らしている[1]。アン・ブロック（Anne Brock ）名義も使用する。
経歴[編集]
ボストン大学のカレッジ・オブ・コミュニケーション（大学院）にて、映画製作を専攻、クリエイティブ・ライティングを副専攻したが、中退しバンド活動を始める[2]。その後、現在の夫と出会い家族となる。執筆活動を始めたのは、第二子が産まれた後のことだった。まずテレビの脚本や映画の脚本、『スター・トレック』の小説などを目標としたが、色々調べた後にロマンスのジャンルに集中することを決めた[2]。それから9回以上書き直し、1993年に処女作"Future Perfect" を上梓する[2]。
1996年、初のシリーズものとなる「危険を愛する男たち」シリーズ（原題："Tall, Dark & Dangerous" ）の第1作『私のプリンス』（原題：Prince Joe ）を上梓。同シリーズは、Navy SEALs（ネイビー・シールズ）（アメリカ海軍特殊部隊）の隊員らが活躍する作品である。その次に書き始めた"Troubleshooters, Inc" シリーズは、サブジャンルとしてミリタリーやロマンティック・サスペンスに分けられる[3]。
"Troubleshooters, Inc" シリーズでは、ゲイであることをカミングアウトしているキャラクターが登場することから[4]、同性愛者向けの雑誌"Out" や "Bay Windows" で注目を集める[5]。ブロックマン自身、ゲイの息子を持つ身であり、PFLAG[注 1]で母として息子を支え、2004年に上梓した『ホット・ターゲット』（原題："Hot Target" ）は息子のために書かれている[1]。2007年、中編"All Through the Night" で得た利益をMassEquality[注 2]に寄付した[6]。
受賞[編集]
アメリカロマンス作家協会が主催するリタ賞を2度受賞している[7][8]。また、『USAトゥデイ』や『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』両紙のベストセラーリストに登場したことで、協会の栄誉名簿に加わえられた[9][10]。1996年、1998年、1999年には、ロマンス専門雑誌"Romantic Times" のレビュアー賞を受賞[11][12][13]し、1997年、2000年、2002年にはロマンス部門でキャリア・アチーブメント賞を受賞した[14][15][16]。
